Software
Computers are considered hardware so we
need to talk a little about software,
the stuff we get on a CD that we load
onto a computer that makes it capable of
actually doing work.
The
operating system, Windows 2000, Windows
XP and Windows Vista are all operating
systems and the computer will do nothing
without one of them. On top of the
operating system we load what we call
application software with the most
common (94% of the world organizations)
use Microsoft Office in one version or
anther. Most organizations also
have at least one specialized software
for their specific business, one written
to help them manage their organization.
For
our purposes we deal primarily in
Microsoft Office (MS Office). We
can assist you in developing the
computer infrastructure to operate your
specialized software, but we don't have
the time to learn every software for
every client.
All
versions of MS Office include at least
Word, Excel and Outlook so if that is
all you need we can set you up.
The other versions have combinations of
the other software commonly found within
the MS Office suite of products.
Did
you know that if you need to purchase at
least five MS licenses you can buy in
what we call a Volume License program
and save about 25%? Don't feel bad
because many folks don't know this.
Also, did you know that if you are a
not-for-profit you can likely receive
deep discounts off the retail price of
MS products if you can produce the
paperwork for your entity?
