Workstations and Laptops
Workstations
We use the
term "workstation" because it is
all-encompassing. The term "desktop" is a
carry over from the early days of computers when
most computers sat flat on top of one's desk.
The term "tower" became popular when desktops
began to be replaced with a computer that sits
next to one's desk on the floor, off the
desktop. There are small desktops now that
take up the same space as a pencil holder and
towers that are half the size they used to me.
We recommend the device based on space
available, not product evolution.
Therefore, we call each of these options
"workstations".
The
workstations we sell have been built in Colorado
for over ten years. They are what we call
"open architecture" which means we can load an
authentic Microsoft version of Windows on them,
you can buy local parts to fit inside if the
computer is out of warranty. All our
workstations and servers come with a three-year
warranty so it is a long time before you have to
worry about finding any parts, that is our
job...
We sell you
what you need, not what is the latest and
greatest. For example, let's buy the
latest and biggest hard drive like 250 gigabyte
GB. Most business users have all the
operating system and software loaded in less
than 15 GB. The data should be on a
server, but even if it is not in most cases it
won't total more than 10 GB. So, for a
typical business person we see a total disk
space used of 25 GB so what is the purpose of
the other 225 GB? Most of what we sell are
80 GB hard drives because they are plenty for
98% of the users we see.
Business users
need simple more than they need snifty or
bleeding edge. Therefore, we offer
affordable, high-speed computers which are
simple. We stand behind our warranties so
if you have an issue or a problem you call to
our office, here in Colorado, in America for
assistance.
Most of our
systems have Windows XP Professional, a DVD/CD
drive and some have DVD/CD burners, 80 GB hard
drive, NIC card, standard audio/video drivers,
and a nice black case. We can configure
one almost anyway you want, but our standard is
very fast and affordable.
Laptops
Over the years
we've sold many laptops and learned commercial
grade computers are different than consumer
grade. We won't sell what you can buy in a
retail store and they don't have access to our
level of laptops. Ours are not the least
expensive, but they are business grade or
commercial grade systems.
We typically
sell Toshiba because our clients are having
excellent experiences with them. Just like
workstations though, what it is important for
you to determine what you need rather than what
it the latest and coolest because the latter
won't be the least expensive.
Most on the
market have at least 80 GB hard drives, but
please be aware you should buy 2 GB or RAM for a
laptop, don't settle for 1 GB because they take
more RAM than workstations.
If you have a
need to replace or add to your computers please
give us a call anytime at 303-678-2927.
